Size guide

Every bed comes in Small, Medium and Large. Getting it right matters more here than it would elsewhere, because each bed is cut to order — so it is worth five minutes with a tape measure.

Start here — by weight

  • Small — dogs up to about 10 kg. Indies, pugs, dachshunds, shih tzus.
  • Medium — roughly 10 to 25 kg. Beagles, cockers, mid-size indies.
  • Large — 25 kg and up. Labradors, goldens, german shepherds.

Weight is a starting point, not the answer. A long, lean dog needs more bed than a heavy compact one at the same weight, which is why the tape measure is worth the five minutes.

Measuring your dog

Do this while they are standing, or lying stretched out if you can manage it.

  1. Length. Nose to the base of the tail — not the tip. This is the number that matters.
  2. Height. Floor to the top of the shoulder, for beds with a raised back or bolster.
  3. Weight. Useful as a sanity check against the length.

Then add allowance. A dog that sleeps stretched out on its side wants roughly 15 cm beyond its nose-to-tail length. A dog that sleeps curled can sit comfortably in something closer to its own length. If your dog does both — most do — size up.

Then narrow it down by how they sleep

Sleeping style gets you to the right bed faster than measurements do, and our beds are built around three of them.

The curler

Nose tucked to tail, usually pressed against something. Wants a wall the whole way round to lean into. Look at The Curl-Up and The Napper.

The leaner

Sleeps flat but wants its head raised — chin over an edge, shoulder against a bolster. Look at The So-Paw and The Pawpular.

The sprawler

Fully extended, usually on its side, taking every inch available. Needs open surface rather than walls. Look at The Couchie, The Soft Spot and the Barkette.

Between two sizes?

Size up. A bed that is slightly too big is a bed a dog stretches out in. A bed that is slightly too small is one it sleeps beside.

Nothing is cut until we have checked

Because these are made to order, no fabric is cut until we have confirmed the fit with you. Once your order is in we come back with the exact internal dimensions of the size you chose, and you can change it at no cost before work starts.

If you would rather settle it beforehand, message us with your dog's breed, weight and nose-to-tail measurement. A photo of them asleep in their current bed tells us more than any of those.

While you are deciding

Size is one half of the decision; fabric is the other. Order a fabric swatch box — eight swatches for ₹250, and the ₹250 comes back as credit against your bed.
